LinkedIn wants to be your video channel now
Short vertical clips are spreading across the feed. Thought leaders have opinions.
LinkedIn used to be the one feed where nobody expected you to film yourself. That era is ending. Short vertical videos are showing up all over the professional network, from career advice to behind-the-scenes clips from office life.
The company is giving video more room in the feed and more tools for creators, betting that people will watch a ninety-second explainer from a hiring manager the same way they watch everything else on their phones.
The thought leader economy
For people who build their careers on LinkedIn, video is both an opportunity and a new chore. Those who are comfortable on camera are seeing big reach. Everyone else is wondering whether a text post still counts.
Professional, but make it fun
The test will be whether LinkedIn video keeps its usefulness. Practical clips about negotiating a raise or reading a job offer fit the platform well. Another stream of generic motivation does not. LinkedIn's audience will decide which one wins.
